Read Receipt Request Indicator

This utility can be downloaded from the Exchange Application Farm at Microsoft, but the documentation does not explain how to install it, so we've given its own page. Since it functions by modifying the default message form for Exchange, it works only with the Microsoft Exchange Server client and not with Microsoft Outlook.

Click here to download the self-extracting executable Read Receipt Requested Indicator (17kb) from Microsoft, then follow these steps to install it (These instructions were checked with Outlook 97, but not later versions.):

  1. Run the Readrcpt.exe file to extract Readme.txt and Mesnote2.cfg.
  2. Copy Mesnote2.cfg to C:\Windows\Forms\Configs.
  3. In Exchange, choose Tools | Options | Exchange Server, then click Manage Forms. (If you do not see this tab, you will need to add the Exchange Server service to the profile.)
  4. On the Forms Manager dialog box, use the Set button on the right to make Personal Forms the current forms library, if it isn't already.
  5. Click Install, switch to the C:\Windows\Forms\Configs folder, select Mesnote2.cfg, then click Open.
  6. On the Form Properties dialog box, click OK, then click Close to close the Forms Manager dialog.

Now, create a new personal view, based on the Normal view, and add the RRR column, which displays a property associated with each message. For more details, see the Readme.txt file.

A PST with the RRR field added is here: RRR.zip
