Filter Update for Exchange Intelligent Message Filter
An update to the Intelligent Message Filter SmartScreen filter is
available and contains updated spam characteristics that improve the
ability of Intelligent Message Filter to block unsolicited
commercial e-mail messages. You must have Intelligent Message Filter
installed to install this update.
While the IMF offers an inexpensive way to reduce the level of spam
in mailboxes, managing archives often proves to be difficult and
reducing the level of false positives without increasing the amount
of spam delivered to your users is hard. For this reason, I don't
recommend relying on IMF as a complete antispam solution.
If you choose to use IMF the following tools will help you and your
users manage the spam it collects.
Nemx Power Tools Version 5.1 now includes the ability to selectively archive messages by user, group, domain, recipients, or content to a MSSQL or ODBC compliant database to ensure government, industry or corporate compliance. The release also includes enhancements to its Friendly Domains auto white listing capabilities.
IMF Updater is a command line application that installs new Exchange IMF definition updates from the Windows Update site. Ideal for scheduling IMF updates on servers that do not have Windows Updates set to auto install. Version 1.
With large numbers of messages filtered by IMF (Microsoft Exchange 2003 Intelligent Message Filter), administrators have to decide what to do with the contents of the archive. IMFcompanion allows administrators to view, delete, find or unblock filtered messages. Designed for ease of use and large numbers of archived messages. Free download. Version 2
IMFStats gives you statistics and guidance for your Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server Intelligent Mail Filter (IMF). There are few options you can set on the IMF, and even less logging information, so it may be difficult to gauge how to configure the gateway for maximum spam blocking and minimum false positives. IMFStats makes this process easier by providing Spam Confidence Level (SCL) statistics, which will tell you where to set your Gateway Blocking and Junk E-mail folder options.
Messages that are identified as spam by the Exchange message filter are automatically added to a database, eliminating spam message buildup on the Exchange server. Once they are added to the database, users can securely browse their quarantined messages through SpamCenter's web interface. They can release messages that were blocked in error, eliminating the need for manual intervention by administrators. Users can also build personal Safe Sender lists and Blocked Sender lists to manage their quarantines automatically. Version 1
SmartIMF Manager is a tool designed to help system administrators easily manage Microsoft® Exchange Intelligent Message Filter (IMF) archive folder contents. With the SmartIMF Manager, administrators can view, delete or forward to recipients filtered messages caught by the IMF. SmartIMF runs as a service and can automatically release messages based on a set of user defined Whitelist rules as well as automatically deleting messages based on age.
The MS Exchange Intelligent Message Filter is bottled in an interface exposing minimal functionality. IMF Tune changes this, rendering it a full featured, commercial grade, anti-spam solution. Insertion of SCLs in email subjects, Rerouting, auto-replies, attachment stripping, detailed logging, archiving, and a lot more.
