There are a number of features and options in older versions which
were removed from Outlook 2007.
The missing calendar features were removed to make room
for the new calendar overlay feature. In some cases they were
unable to make the feature compatible with the overlay; in other
cases, the feature added too much clutter when calendars were
side-by-side or overlaid.
Disable Outlook integration or email

Outlook is crashing
Disable add-ins. If you have Adobe Acrobat
6 installed, disable it's add-in first. SnagIt's addin will also crash Outlook. If Outlook crashes when you attempt to disable the addins, you'll need to edit the registry. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins and change the load behavior for Acrobat, SnagIt or other non-Microsoft add-ins to 0.
The official word from Microsoft on the usability of Outlook 2007
against an Exchange 5.5 server:
"Microsoft continuously strives to provide a consistent
and predictable end-of-life-cycle experience for all of its
products. In accordance with standard Microsoft life-cycle policies
Exchange 5.5 ended extended life-cycle support on January 10th,
2006. As a result, Outlook 2007 will not support Exchange 5.5.
Because neither the Outlook or Exchange team is supporting this
combination we will not discover and/or fix issues that crop up as
the result of innovations in both products . Rather than subjecting
customers to potential serious issues like data loss or frequent
server downtime we choose to prevent Outlook from connecting to
these older and now unsupported servers. Our research has shown that
there is a relatively small set of customers who want to upgrade
their desktops to the latest and greatest versions of Office and run
server technology as old as Exchange 5.5. There are clearly
exceptions but they don't seem to be the norm."
Will it install it on Windows 2000?
No, Windows XP SP2 is required. Type winver in the Start menu, Run
box to see what version you are using.
Where is the Add-ins dialog?
All security related options were moved to the Trust Center (on the
Tools menu), including Read as plain text, Add-ins, Digital

I don't want Word as my editor. How do I disable it?
There is only one email editor now and it's Word.
How do I send email from Word?
The "Office envelope" feature which allowed you to compose a
document then click a button to show the email header fields and
send the document in the body of an email message was removed from
the toolbars but the command still exists. Look for it in Word or
Excel's Tools, Customize and add it to their Quick Access toolbar.
How can I change Outlook's colors?
From the Office icon in the upper left corner of Word (replacing the
File menu), choose Word Options, Personalize and switch color
schemes. At this time there are only two colors to choose from -
Windows XP blue and Vista slate gray.
Help! RSS feeds are in my Unread search folder.
If you don't want RSS feeds in the Unread search folder, make a
custom search folder and choose only the folders you want to search.
Why doesn't Outlook have the ribbon interface?
The main Outlook interface doesn't have the ribbon because it's so
complex and they apparently didn't have enough time. The forms do
use the ribbon, in part because they are built on Word. For a better
explanation, read Jenson's blog about it:

Where do I set up RSS feeds?
All settings for all "accounts", including RSS feeds and Internet
Calendars are in Tools, Account Settings.
How do I move the RSS folder from my Exchange mailbox to a pst?
You can relocate the folder RSS feeds go into, but need to do it one
at a time as you create the RSS feed. See the Tools, Accounts, RSS
tab.

Where is the Week view? You know, the one with 2 columns
you see when you click the icon that has a small calendar with a 7
inside it?
That view is not available in Outlook 2007. It was removed because
of issues with the calendar overlay mode. See
View a two week
calendar for a replacement view.
