You may get the message "Can't create the
item" when you click on a mailto: link in a web page.
Permanent fix for Outlook 97: Run the Microsoft Outlook or Office 97 Setup.exe with the /y switch,
then choose Reinstall to reset the registry entries without copying the
files again.
Temporary fix for Outlook 97: Run the SwitchForms utility
from the ValuPack or the Microsoft web site to switch to Microsoft Outlook forms. You may
also want to use Fix
Forms instead. If you update Outlook to
version 8.02 with
either the International English version of the patch or the Enterprise Update, Fix Forms
is added automatically. If you use the U.S. English version of the patch, you need to
install Fix Forms separately.
For other versions, this may be the result of a problem with the setting
for the default e-mail client. See To change the
default e-mail program.
This problem may occur if you install Microsoft Exchange after installing
Microsoft Outlook. See Can't Create New
